Manufacturer
In The Beginning: Blu-Jet Agricutural EquipmentThurston Manufacturing Company is a family owned business established by Wayne A. Jensen of rural Thurston, Nebraska in 1971. From ’71 until 1999, the business grew from a handful of employees which began designing, producing and marketing a line of large agricultural equipment related to fertilizer application and conservation tillage under the trade name of BLU-JET. In 1999, in an effort to diversify product offering and level-load the production cycle, Circle R, Inc. which had developed the first Side Dump semi-trailer, was purchased. It soon was discovered that the newly acquired Side Dump design was less than stellar and in 2001 Thurston engineers developed an entirely new chassis and tub design which was successfully introduced to the market. Today this design maintains the industry distinction of being the most reliable Side Dump trailer in terms of durability and longevity based upon our historical miniscule warranty activity.
Quality People: Stable, Quality Engineers and Production PeopleToday’s realm of personnel stems into the third generation of the Jensen family. Approaching 100 employees, this highly structured organization includes all the necessary elements for successful performance. The Design and Engineering Team includes two BS degrees plus one Doctorate. This staff utilizes solid modeling software including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) which allows our designers to literally design and assemble a complete machine while checking for interferences and functionality. More importantly for the customer and unlike most of our trailer competitors, FEA removes all doubt about structural integrity before we produce first article components.
Thurston Manufacturing Today: A Modern Production FacilityThe Factory Floor also utilizes state of the art manufacturing software and production equipment, tracking inventory down to the last nut and bolt while tying all activity directly into accounting for precise financial reporting. Quality control measures are in place to ensure each part produced and purchased are made to exact specification.
